Exploring Relational Practices in Peacebuilding, Mediation and Conflict Transformation: From the Intimate to the International
Presented by the Taos Institute, Creating Promising Futures through Social Construction
November 14-18, 2012
At the beautiful Bahia Resort and Conference Center Mission Bay, San Diego, CA
Practitioners, academics and community members are invited to come together to share and create
new forms of relational, collaborative and appreciative practices for peacebuilding, conflict transformation
and mediation in families, organizations, communities, and the world.
There could not be a more important moment for this gathering. As inequality, interpersonal violence,
community conflict, environmental destruction, political unrest, terrorism, and general global unease
proliferate, it becomes increasingly important for us to share and expand our relational resources for
peace.
Participants will share and develop ways of moving from conflict-saturated relations to collaborations
across divides of meaning using social constructionist ideas. Our time together will both educate and
bring to life new forms of practice and new projects large and small that inspire innovative ways of
going on together.
- Our time together will include interactive dialogue using Appreciative Inquiry to discover, explore, create and plan for relational practices in peacebuilding, mediation and conflict transformation.
- We will feature thought-leaders in the field of social construction, narrative mediation, and conflict transformation through keynotes and panel dialogues.
- There will be opportunities to participate in up to 48 different workshops which will feature stories, examples and practices from a social constructionist perspective that build the relational capacity to bring about more peaceable, just, and collaborative families, communities, organizations, nations and the world.
- We will offer an opportunity for everyone to share their work by presenting a poster presentation.
