Eleftheria Tseliou is a psychologist, systemic family therapist and trainer, practising in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since May 2009 she has also been elected as an Assistant Professor in Research Methodology at the Department of Preschool Education, University of Thessaly, Greece. She holds a first degree in Philosophy, Education and Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Psychology by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She also holds an MSc in Family therapy and a Ph.D. in Psychology by the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College, University of London.
Since 1996 she has been practising psychotherapy in private practice. She has also been involved in the setting of the Institute of Systemic Thinking and Psychotherapy (www.systemic.gr), which runs a four year training course in systemic family therapy.
She has been a part-time lecturer in various University departments in Greece (Department of Psychology and Department of Primary Education, Thessaloniki). She is a member of several national and international associations. Her work has been published in international Journals, she has participated in several national and international conferences and she is also a reviewer for the Journal of Family therapy.
Her activities lie in the development of reflexive and collaborative practices in psychotherapy, training and research. She has attempted a synthesis between systems approaches and constructionist qualitative research approaches, discourse analysis in particular, in the study of interethnic couple relationships. Her specific research interests lie in the development of qualitative research approaches to the study of psychotherapy and education / training. They also include topics like the family and its contemporary transformations and the study of psychotherapeutic process in the case of systemic and post-modern approaches.
