Psychiatrist, Systemic and Psychoanalytic Therapist, Trainer and Supervisor.
She was born in Mytilini, Lesvos, the land of poets and philosophers, nowadays a hosting place for people who try to escape from war.
She studied Medicine and specialized in Psychiatry in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Next, she found herself in the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training with The British Association of Psychotherapists, in London.
Just before coming back to Greece, she fell in love with systemic thinking and especially Cecchin’s construction of it. Gianfranco Cecchin was a mentor and a great inspirer for her.
After returning to Greece, together with some good friends and colleagues, she co-created a public Mental Heath Centre (of Western Thessaloniki), a place in which difficult problems within a problem-ridden community were approached by learning and developing systemic thinking and practice. Gianfranco and other great friends: Lynn Hoffman, Harlene Anderson, Jaakko Seikkula and others helped them generously.
Fany retired from the MHC Director’s post in 2008.
As it turns out, that Mental Health Centre facilitated Thessaloniki to become a place for union and exchange of people interested in systems.
Next, the same people who founded the Systemic Association of Northern Greece, also invented the first systemic journal in Greece, Metalogos of which she has been a co-editor for some 13 years now.
A lot of great friends have been supporting Metalogos since its beginning: Gianfranco Cecchin, Lynn Hoffman, Harlene Anderson, Jaakko Seikkula, Luigi Onnis, Mary Catherine Bateson, Wendel Ray and others and more recently, Imelda McCarthy, Pietro Barbetta and Umberta Telfener. Keneth Gergen and some Taos’ Associates honored Metalogos by sending their work.
Since 2012, Metalogos has been on-line only (www.metalogos-systemic-therapy-journal.gr) and is bilingual (Greek and English), having become a great source of interest and creativity for all involved.
Metalogos, having taken its name from and honoring Gregory Bateson and his Metalogues, is a kind of passion for Fany, nowadays!

Also, for the last ten years, she has been collaborating with The Institute of Systemic Thinking and Psychotherapy, in Thessaloniki.
Last but not least, one of her great love and occupation for some 16 years now has been the construction of video art - a kind of collage, or an artistic dialogue between philosophy, systemic, and psychoanalytic ideas, images and music.
Those videos have been presented in Family Therapy and Psychoanalytic Congresses (in the place of a traditional speech or presentation) and they are used in Seminars and for educative reasons.
Quite a few of them have been uploaded in Metalogos.
Fany has written quite a few papers – mostly in the form of dialogues – and recently (2016) one of the “dialogues” she created with three other colleagues was included in the book: Systemic Therapy as Transformative Practice by Imelda McCarthy and Gail Simon.
