Jesús is a Spanish University Professor and Psychotherapist. He got his Grade in Psychology at the University of València (Spain) in 1987 and obtained his PhD in Psychology at the same University in 1992. His thesis was devoted to the rehabilitation of everyday-memory problems. He was accredited as Cognitive Psychotherapist by the Spanish Association of Cognitive Psychotherapies in 1998 and become trainer in cognitive psychotherapies by the same association in 2007.
He worked as psychotherapist in a private office from 1987 to 1991 and too in different services of the University of Seville.
He enrolled at the University of Seville in 1991. From 2002 is Associate (stable) Professor. Currently is in charge of psychotherapies courses at the Degree in Psychology and at the Master in Health General Psychology. He teaches two courses on social violence and therapies, and psychotherapy and cultural minorities.
Jesús was originally trained in cognitive-behavioral modification practices, and started his formation as constructivist therapist in 1990. Now, his therapeutic combines constructivist and constructionist frameworks.
He is member of several scientific associations, including Constructivist Psychology Network, Spanish Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy, and Spanish Association of Narrative Therapy. He has published one handbook on narrative therapy, he has a co-editor of two books about psychotherapy and he has published 10 book chapters and more than 200 contributions in the format of journal articles and congress papers
Jesús has held numerous academic posts in the University of Seville. He was Dean of the School of Psychology of the University of Seville from 2011-2015.
He defines himself as a searcher of meanings inside the sea of the therapeutic research and social practices, promotes interdisciplinary dialogues and he’s so interested in the integration of different schools of psychology and psychotherapy.
