If you are a conspiracy trheoy buff...and we all are...you might remember that DIA in Denver, Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs and Los Alamos in New Mexico are all supposed to be linked by a great underground rail system. All three sites have extensive underground facilities. Throw in Dulce New Mexico with its underground base and you have several subterranean cities linked by rail. There is also supposed to be a large seed vault near Creed in an old silver mine. Plus several years back they rebuilt highway 17 in the northern part of the valley. It is a very long, level and straight "runway" now. At the time there were several big, deep "gravel pits" being dug out along the roadside. Possible deep bunkers. This was right after 911 so I just assumed it was a continuity of government installation being built.

I am interested in atnitdeng Mr. Nichols class on Nov. 5th. There are a number of paintings I've started and gone no further, on which love to hear his recommendations. One is a water color and there are several pastels. Please let me know if the class is still open. I admire his loose approach and his use of color. Thanks, Barbara Rudd

it better, with peaosnrl experience, and with heart. I don't need to tell you that many soliders got shifted around and returned at different times. I know people other than the man I interviewed who were there and are now elderly. The man I interviewed, before retiring, taught social studies "the right way," aiming to give high schoolers a sense of the larger picture. Spare the knife on higher education as a whole. My city-run institution and I am proud to state its name, The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, nails fact checking into our heads so hard I have blood loss. My father is also a history professor and a historian, and while I don't come close to his level of mastery of time sequences and facts and battles, I know that Nam was a confusing war and I know that my interview subject did not lie to me. I did not post for instant gratification, and see none that I would receive greater than talking to this man, who had a lot of wisdom he shed on a stranger a flailing journalist and a wide eyed student and with such kindness and honesty. Dean, never mistake your truth for indulgence and thank you for liking my post. Anonymous, I understand your anger at those who do post without fact checking and I appreciate that you spoke out, even if in this case, my facts happened to be straight. Thank you both for your service to our country and for standing up for what you believe to be truth.

An Arts ThinkTank: This is exactly what an Arts Council sholud be. I'm sure you've noticed how often the Fraser Institute is cited on various issues. Do we ever here from the BC Arts Council? A Vancouver City Arts Council could be a powerful voice, but only if it's made up of fearless, intelligent, and energetic advocates for the arts in all economic and social sectors.
