Lindsey N. Godwin is an Assistant Professor of Management in the College of Business at Champlain College. She holds a M.S. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University, where she studied with the founders and leading thought-leaders in Appreciative Inquiry (AI). Her research interests include leadership development, morality and social responsibility in business, and the role of collaborative technologies in creating positive organizational development and whole-system’s change. Her work has been published in the Handbook of Women in Business and Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Information & Organization, Advances in Interdisciplinary Studies of Work Teams, and presented at conferences around the world. Recent publications include: "Designing ee-Learning Environments: Lessons from an Online Workshop" (in Innovate: Journal of Online Education with Soren Kaplan); "AI Version 2.0: New Models of Appreciative Inquiry in the Digital Age.” (in AI Practitioner with Soren Kaplan) and “Learning from a Whole-System, Strength-Based Approach: A Case of Collaborative Curriculum Development” (in Journal of Quality and Participation with Mary Grace Neville).
During her time at Case Western Reserve, she served as a research associate for the Center for Business as Agent of World Benefit (B.A.W.B.) and remains a creative contributor today. Through her work with B.A.W.B., she helped organize and lead several international online conferences, bringing together hundreds of individuals from six continents to explore how business can be a force for positive social change. She also organized a multi-university summit to envision integrating business and society issues into management school curriculum, helped organize the first BAWB Global Forum, and continues to serve as the co-editor of Center’s Interactive Working Paper Series.
With a passion for helping organizations leverage their potential through strength-based change, Lindsey continues to help organize and facilitate AI processes with a variety of organizations. In collaboration with David Cooperrider, she designed and co-facilitates a series of online experiential workshops that focus on teaching the foundations of AI to people across the globe. She currently is a knowledge manager for the AI Commons (http://appreciativeinquiry.case.edu), the largest open-source resource space for Appreciative Inquiry in the world. She served as the Program Chair for the 2007 International Appreciative Inquiry Conference in Orlando, FL and is currently working as a Co-chair for the 2009 World Appreciative Inquiry Conference, which will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
