Petros I. Polychronis, MD, Child Psychiatrists was born in Athens in 1951. He completed his post-doctoral training in Family and Group Therapy with Drs. George and Vasso Vassiliou, founders of the Athenian Institute of Anthropos (AIA) in Greece -the first center to practice family therapy in Europe.

Dr. Polychronis is presently the Director of the AIA, where he is a Group and Family Therapist, Senior Trainer and Supervisor. He has also been involved as a consultant to the development of support programs for multi-problem families in a variety of contexts dealing with Child and Family Welfare. He is a Founding Member of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA), of the Hellenic Association for Systems Thinking and Family Psychotherapy, and of the Greek Society for De-Institutionalization and Mental Health. He has served on the Executive Council of the Hellenic Child Psychiatric Association and of the World Association for Social Psychiatry and is an Honorary Member of the Executive Council of the Therapeutic Center for Addicted Individuals and their Families (KE.TH.EA). Dr. Polychroni is a visiting lecturer at Postgraduate programs at the Universities of Athens, Crete and Ioannina.  Main areas of interest/publication : Family Therapy Training.
