Yang is a Canada BC Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with enthusiasm for working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

She received her B.A. in Psychology, and M.A. in Counselling Psychology, both from University of Victoria. She believes in a collaborative and integrative way of working with her clients, in hope of offering clients a safe and open place to share feelings and explore their own realities. Every individual has possibility to change and grow, and she believes her work is to find their own strengths and resources.

With 10 years’ work experience in the field of mental health, from community to private practice, Yang builds her knowledge and expertise in a variety of areas. Starting from Sandy Merriman Women Shelter and Family Service of Greater Victoria, she worked with families and children facing changes and challenges in their relationships and behaviors. She is currently working as EAP counsellor, family therapist, group facilitator and workshop translator in Shanghai, China and BC, Canada. Some other issues she is exploring are addictions, LGBTQ+, international living, parenting, emerging adulthood and more. Her professional training includes Satir Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dynamic-Maturational Attachment Approach and Collaborative-Dialogue.

Yang: To live and work in Canada and China for last 15 years, I expanded my views in appreciating how context and culture influences individual’s narratives and dialogues. While travelling in different cultures, I connect with people with a curious heart and an open mind. We listen, we express, and we create: I believe that changes start when we connect.
