Kenichi Kubota, Ph.D. is a professor emeritus at Kansai University and president of the NPO Forum for i-Learning Creation. He received a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from the School of Education at Indiana University in the United States. He has long been involved in international development activities and has worked on educational development in developing countries such as Philippines, Myanmar, China, Bangladesh, Syria, Turkey and so on. His theoretical background is in social constructivism, which he has applied to educational research methodology to create constructivist learning environments. He has been conducting action research in collaboration with teachers in the field on how to construct constructivist learning environments for inquiry learning, international exchange learning, environmental learning, and so on. Recently, he has been expanding his activities in the field of non-formal and informal education, such as smartphone classes for the elderly and SDGs education at libraries for children after school, in order to revitalize local communities. He has published books and articles related to social constructivism in Japanese, such as “Constructionism Paradigm and Designing Learning Environment” (Kandai Shuppan) and “Designing College Education: Educational Practice based on Constructionism” (Koyo Shobo).
