Maya is an experienced professional organizer with a background in community-based research. She works closely with individuals, families and organizations to reflect upon and organize information, ideas, documents, artifacts and physical spaces.  Her projects include helping older professional adults archive personal and historical materials, processing the legacies of loved ones, and working with organizations to collect and preserve foundational histories in a vital and meaningful way.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology & Sociology from the University of British Columbia and a MSc in Human Ecology from the University of Wisconsin. For five years she took part in qualitative, quantitative and community-based research projects with place-based community organizations in Vancouver, Canada. In her graduate research, she developed a community-based approach to researching and sharing organizational history to support these organizations through redevelopment.

Maya has enjoyed additional trainings in Improv and Forum Theatre and continues to create comics, a skill she learned from Lynda Barry at the University of Wisconsin. Lately, she has been dabbling with puppets and ultimately she is interested in how various artforms contribute to expression, connection and meaningful dialogue.

As a Taos Associate, she is excited to explore organizing work as a ritual through which people and organizations review and redefine their spaces, selves and relationships.
