Přemysl Ulman was born and grew up in Czech Republic. After graduating form highschool his aim was to study psychology, yet the situation at universities in Czech Republic at that time (very limited number of studenst accepted into psychology programs) did not allow him to. That’s how his international journey started. He took the opportunity of the early 90’s that opened up for people in Czech Republic and went abroad. First he moved to Germany, then to Rome, Italy, where he achieved a degree in philosophy and later in theology. After that he moved to the USA. Here he graduated from Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Thomas University in Miami, FL in 2006 and started practicing as a family therapist in a community based organization. In 2012 he moved back to Czech Republic where he continued to work in his profession combining private practice, employment in community based organizations and educational activities.

Since his graduate studies in the USA his professional interest was focused on post-modern therapy approaches, mainly on Narrative practice, closely related to the ideas of social constructionism. After he moved to Czech Republic in 2012 he became familiar with the ideas of collaborative practices, which in Czech Republic are strongly represented by Group Narativ. He applied the ideas of collaborative practice in the program “Parents for Ever”, organized with his colleagues for families experiencing high conflicts in their divorce process in eastern Moravia. As he became a part of the Group Narativ in 2016, he started being actively involved in educational activities of this association. He is currently one of the facilitators of the international certification program in collaborative practices called Možnosti dialogu (Possibilities of dialog). Within the same organization he also actively participated in a three-year long international project in providing education and support in multidisciplinary team approach in helping families in difficult situation.
