Paula Ayub is a psychologist (1989), family therapist, and a member of the Brazilian Association of Family Therapy (ABRATEF) since 2000. She is the founder (1992) and the Director of the Movimento Convivência Center (CCM), a place specialized in the care of autistic people with support level 3. Paula received the International Certificate of Collaborative Practices (ICCP) in 2012.

She has published multiple articles in scientific journals (www.psiquiatriainfantil.com.br and www.revistanps.com.br) and chapters for books (Dad, Mom, You… and Me, Learn Me and Social Constructionism and Collaborative Practices – Dialogical: Contexts of Transforming Actions) and has a weekly column on Canal Autismo/Revista Autismo, where she offers expert opinions to parents and professionals about clinical practice and years of study.

She is an active member of several working groups that advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. In this capacity, she gives lectures, teaches classes and workshops, and presents papers at national and international conferences.

She is a key member of the SMPCD (Municipal Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities of the city of São Paulo), responsible for co-writing Law No. 17,502 of November 20, 2020 on municipal public policy to guarantee protection and expansion of the rights of people with autism spectrum disorder and their family members. As a member of PCD GT – CRP (Regional Council of Psychology – SP), she is one of the creators and collaborators in the Handbook: Practical Guide on Accessibility for Psychology Professionals, published in 2022.

In addition, she is currently working on three projects:

  • Young Solidarity/Qualified Friend: a group of typical and atypical young people offering support for the development of social skills.
  • Eu Me Protejo: (‘I Protect Myself’), a collaborative group advocating for the prevention of sexual violence in childhood and among people with disabilities. This Project received the 2020 Neide Castanho Award.
  • TEAMM – Group of the Department of Psychiatry at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), working with autistic adults to promote autonomy and training for the job market.
