From a very young age, Rosa has had a calling for understanding the social fabric of Colombia.  She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia (1979) followed by pre-doctoral studies in social sciences in the area of childhood and youth (CINDE) at the Universidad de Manizales, Colombia.  The complexity of Colombian society began to expand her curiosity to related areas.  She became a researcher at the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (1976-1996), Director and researcher at the Youth (OBJUN, 2009-present), coordinator for the Working Group, Psychology and Indigenous Peoples Union of Latin American Entities in Psychology, ULAPSI, and coordinator of the Nodule for Indigenous Peoples in Colombian Network of Social and Community Psychology.

Rosa has always had a passion for participative research.  This is reflected through her wide experience in community social psychology, working with indigenous, rural and youth communities.  She also has worked extensively in the areas of intercultural psychology, medical anthropology, health processes related to disease, culture, folk wisdom, including body, mind and subjectiveness, with certain focus of displaced victims of violence, creation of interethnic social networks and conflict resolution.  All of this experience has led Rosa to a valid interdisciplinary approach.  She is very open to other areas that lead to a more complete understanding of society.

At present she is an instructor in post-graduate programs at various universities in the areas of social psychology, sexual education, community mental health, public health, epidemiology and family medicine.

She is author and co-author of various books and articles, published in Colombia and abroad. Additionally she speaks at international conferences.
