Adriana Gil-Wilkerson, Ph.D. is a bilingual, licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & Supervisor from Houston, TX. She received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University and she is an Assistant Professor and the Clinic Director at Our Lady of the Lake University-Houston’s MFT program. Before she began her full-time work in academia, Adriana served many roles at the Houston Galveston Institute from 2002-2021 including Associate Director, Clinical and Training Director, Program Coordinator, Faculty, Researcher, Supervisor, Therapist, & mentor. Her current roles at HGI are Co-Directing the Houston International Certificate in Collaborative-Dialogic Practices, Faculty, trainer, and supervisor.

Adriana’s research interests are tied to her own personal experiences of being a first generation, bilingual daughter of immigrants- she is curious about the experiences of other Latinx practitioners in education, training, and supervision. Adriana serves on the Board of the Houston Association of Marriage and Family Therapists as the current President (2022), she is involved in the International Collaborative-Dialogic Practices Community and offers training and supervision to those who are interested in learning more about Collaborative-Dialogic work.

Adriana has a lifelong partner, Chandler Wilkerson who is a source of inspiration and conversational partner- together, they raise their wonderful children, Lucas and Emiliana (Emi), both who are curious humans and are learning the challenges of growing up in the US as 2nd generation, grandchildren of immigrants. They all love to travel together, enjoy hiking, kayaking, pet sitting, gardening, and playing/improvising word and board games.

Adriana is a systemic, postmodern thinker, maker, and tinkerer.
