Originally from France, Alexandra (Alex) Arnold joined the Taos Institute in 2018 and June 1, 2023 took on the position of Executive Director, responsible for all operations of the Taos Institute. She has spent over two decades in operations in a variety of settings including: an international tour operator where she designed and managed walking tours around the world; one of the world’s largest professional services firms; and a local nonprofit community service program focused on gleaning surplus food to feed neighbors with limited access to fresh, nutritious meals. Along the way, Alex earned a M.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, USA and a M.S. in Human Relations and Organization Development from Champlain College, VT, USA. It is during this time that she discovered strengths-based approaches to change, especially Appreciative Inquiry, which she now uses with individual clients as an ICF-accredited personal development and leadership coach at Alma Coaching. Most recently, she joined the Climate Coaching Alliance and completed a training program through Climate Change Coaches, specifically to help those who want to build resilience, identify value-driven action, and find new ways of living with climate change. She has been a contributor to the International Journal of Appreciative Inquiry for the past few years. In her free time, Alex enjoys the beautiful and quiet outdoors in Vermont, where she lives with her family.

Dawn Cooperrider Dole, MSOD, M.Ed
Operations Advisor


Dawn Cooperrider Dole, MSOD, M.Ed. was the Executive Director of the Taos Institute and retired from that position June 1, 2023.  She is now acting as an Operations Advisor to continue to support the Taos Institute. Dawn began working with the institute in 1994 and has seen the growth and development of the institute from the beginning years as a small network of friends and colleagues to a global organization of with over 750 associates from over 55 countries, more than 130 graduate students, a full range of publications, workshops and conferences each year, and much more.

Dawn also, in her spare time, consults with organizations, non-profits and schools utilizing the strength-based approach to organization development: Appreciative Inquiry. Dawn has 25 years experience designing and facilitating experiential teambuilding and leadership programs. She has held leadership positions in non-profits, healthcare and community education. Dawn has taught elementary school and worked with children of all ages.

She is the co-author of a book titled: Positive Family Dynamics: Appreciative Inquiry Questions for Bringing Out the Best in Families. Dawn also designs Appreciative Parenting programs which utilizes AI for parents. She is a yoga instructor with a 200 RYT and a Reiki practitioner. Her degrees include: MSOD from Case Western Reserve University and an M.Ed. from John Carroll University both in Cleveland, Ohio.
