Celia was raised in Brazil where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Education. She went on to live in the USA and soon after in Europe where she resided for almost 9 years. She learned from different cultures living in three countries Italy, England, and France. These experiences not only gave her the privilege to visit various countries, and learn to speak several languages but also allowed to expand her understanding, openness and flexibility in dealing with people. In 1994 she came back to the United States where she got a Masters Degree in Education and later a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. She concluded her Ph.D. in June 2012 after presenting her 3- year research in working with people considered chronically mentally ill in an outpatient group therapy setting. She has worked in community mental health centers, private psychiatric hospitals as well as in private practice. She uses her clinical experience with diverse populations to facilitate the achievement of more meaningful and gratifying moments in life through a systemic and collaborative/narrative approach to psychotherapy. She is fascinated in assisting individuals and families apply their talents and rediscover their creativity, thus improving their relationships and recreating meaning in their social, family and work contexts, despite the challenges they may face. Celia has two daughters, Andressa and Kiara, her great two personified poems who have grown into people she loves each day more and admires dearly. She loves dance, music, and reading.
