Heve Otero is a psychologist with a Masters degree from Boston University, trained in Psychodrama at the Uruguayan School of Psychodrama, and in Family and Couples Therapy at the Kantor Family Institute in Boston. She has been active in research, public policy, and psychotherapy.
Heve has 20 years experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams working on the design, enactment, and implementation of social policies to protect children, enrich their lives, and enhance their prospects. She has worked as an advocate for children´s rights, using my training in Social Psychology to create dialogues and build collaborative relationships among actors at regional, national, and international levels.
She has coordinated the activities of the Observatory on Children´s Rights and Social Policies, dedicated to collect and organize data for the communication and incidence. She currently does research on violence against children, gender issues and social policies. See www.cdiaobserva.com.py.
Heve is on the Board of Enfoque Niñez, an NGO tasked with providing therapeutic support to biological families in difficulty, foster care when needed, and statistical research in support of relevant public policies. She is a Professor in the Masters-level program in Systemic Interventions and Family Therapy, sponsored by the Houston Galveston and Taos Institutes. She also teaches Psychodrama at GRUPA, the Psychodrama Group of Asuncion, which was founded by her.
Heve has given many lectures, workshops, and training sessions in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, and Uruguay on gender issues, collaborative practices, and mental health, generally. She maintains a private practice for individuals, couples, families, and groups, and is frequently called upon to perform assessments of organizations and groups.
Main interests are human rights, violence, gender, qualitative research, globalization and post-modernism, psychotherapy, organization´s life.
