through May 26, 2014

(A 6 Week Online Course)

This online course features videos and writings of Ken Gergen, Mary Gergen, Sheila McNamee, Harlene Anderson, Barnett Pearce, John Shotter, Saliha Bava and more.

This 6-week online course introduces common premises and orienting ideas central to dialogues on social construction. The ways in which constructionist ideas differ from traditional, realist understandings of the world are explored. The course will consist of six modules with readings, videos and online dialogues via text chat groups. The course is facilitated by Taos Associate, Celiane Camargo Borges, Ph.D. and supported by Dawn Dole, Taos Institute Executive Director.

There will be “live” conference calls for this course held on Mondays from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM or 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM New York time/eastern US time. Participants choose one of these times to join the “live” calls for the whole 6 weeks.

On the first call participants will meet each other, learn how the course will work and begin to co-create a learning community. This will be followed by five additional conference calls to explore the material from each module. During the week, participants will be required to do the weekly reading, watch the videos, complete writing assignments and connect with their inquiry partner/s for that week.

The course consists of an introduction and five modules:
Module 1 - Getting to know one another and creating a virtual learning community
Module 2 – An Introduction to Social Construction
Module 3 – Dialogue and Discourse
Module 4 – Social Construction of the Person
Module 5 – Research/Inquiry as Social Construction
Module 6 – Social Construction: Promises and Challenges

The "live" meetings will take place on April 21, April 28, May 5, May 12, May 19 and May 26.
