Su-Fen Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing and Distribution Management at National Pingtung University, Taiwan. She primarily teaches courses on business and management for both graduates and undergraduates. Dr. Liu received her Doctorate of Adult Education from the University of Georgia in 1999, writing her dissertation on what factors influence young and old workers’ decision to participate in corporate training. She was also Director of the Academic Development Section at the Research and Development Office of the National Pingtung Institute of Commerce (NPIC) for six years, and has recently become Director of their Recruitment and Admission Section. She is dedicated to advancing and expanding educational opportunities for students and has received the Outstanding Counselor Award and Distinguished Teaching Award from the NPIC for her work.
Dr. Liu has many journal publications and conference presentations spanning research on older worker training participation, the effects of gender education courses, and lifelong learning programs for livestock farmers. She has also been translating the Positive Aging Newsletter into both traditional and simplified Chinese since 2009, sharing the concept of positive aging with the Senior University Program at National Pingtung University as an invited speaker. Dr. Liu is also an active member of the Workplace Gender Equality Evaluation Committee for the Pingtung County Government and travels to high schools, universities, community centers, and businesses to speak about gender equality. Dr. Liu’s dedication to teaching others how to better themselves and their circumstances has earned her multiple grants to help disadvantaged students improve their English proficiency. In the coming years Dr. Liu plans to continue helping older workers develop the potential to become employable after retirement age.
