Luis Botella is a Professor at Ramon Llull University (Barcelona). The primary focus of his research is to advance the understanding of human meaning making processes and the construction and reconstruction of self identity. Luis’ main theoretical sources of inspiration are Constructivism, Social Constructionism, Personal Construct Psychology, Narrative Therapy, and Postmodernism. In his research projects and studies, Luis uses and endorses a methodological pluralism combining quantitative methods (such as the Repertory Grid Technique) and qualitative ones such as Discourse and Narrative Analysis, or Grounded Theory Methodology. Luis’ main research efforts are addressed to psychotherapy (outcome and process) research, but he also has studied meaning making and constructive processes in other realms of human experience (spirituality, mindfulness, cognitive complexity, body image, loss and grieving, music and rhythm, fuzzy cognitive maps, self narratives). Luis’ approach to psychotherapy is markedly integrative: He is interested in a theoretically coherent combination of technically eclectic therapeutic tools. His main interest, however, are constructivist, constructionist, cognitive, narrative, systemic, and postmodern therapies. Luis finds these approaches to be the ones that he feels more comfortable with when working with his clients.
