Professor Cisneros-Puebla has been a visiting professor at the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology, University of Alberta, Canada and in the CAQDAS Networking Project at University of Surrey, UK as well as different Universities in South America. His current interests and project work concentrate on the methodological and technological convergence of CAQDAS (Computer Assisted Qualitative Data AnalysiS) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems).

He received his PhD from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1992, and since 1997 has served as Professor and Researcher at UNAM Metro, in Mexico City.  He taught Qualitative Data Analysis at our first three Congresses here in Urbana, and has been a regular presence ever since.  He has been a Symposium or Conference organizer of over 30 conferences, has served on the editorial boards of over 15 journals, has presented papers or invited addresses to over 110 meetings and conferences, and has published over 45 journal articles.  Cesar has played a leadership role in carrying the messages of qualitative data analysis to international audiences in Canada, Europe, South America, and Central America. This leadership is reflected in his election as President of the International Association. Additionally, he has received or

participated as a member of many grants from national and international agencies, to use qualitative analysis for the investigation of health, education, social justice, and many other issues. 

Dr César A. Cisneros Puebla received the 2020 Special Career Award in Qualitative Inquiry, which recognizes dedication and contributions to qualitative research, teaching, and practice from the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry

Editor of Forum: Qualitative Social Research (FQS) Spanish version www.qualitative-research.net/index.php/fqs/index , peer-reviewed multilingual online journal for qualitative research established in 1999. He has published extensively on qualitative data analysis and qualitative software. Some of his contributions are available in FQS online journal as well as his conversations with prominent researchers such as Juliet Corbin, Janice Morse and Kenneth Gergen. His most recent article titled “On the Roots of Qualitative Research” appears in Josef Zelger, Margit Raich, and Paul Schober (eds) (2008) GABEK III. Organisationen und ihre Wissensnetze.
