Tara received a Ph.D. in Human Development from Fielding Graduate University. She holds an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southwestern Theological Seminary, an MA in Human Development from the Fielding Graduate University and a BS in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Her research has centered on resilience and positive life adaptation in the face of adversity.

As a licensed clinical therapist, family therapist and supervisor, Tara has practiced in hospital, residential and school settings in Maine and Texas. As Director of Clinical Services, Tara was part of developing and expanding a Maine residential care facility’s programs to improve continuity of care and opportunity for resilient adaptation. In 2004, she founded Resilience, Inc., a licensed non-profit mental health and substance abuse agency for children and families historically under served.

Tara accepted the invitation to join The Monarch Institute for Neurological Differences in 2007 to guide and develop therapeutic services that emphasized strengths-based developmental expansion. There as Director of Therapeutic Services, she trained and supervised graduate and postgraduate level interns, supported families in developing competence in children with neurological differences and coordinated integrated care for learners, their families and ancillary caregivers.

Tara is passionate about teaching and mentoring interns and new therapists in innovative, collaborative and relationship-based therapeutic care. She is particularly interested in affecting graduate level curriculum that will prepare therapists in functionally scaffolding positive life adaptation—toward purpose and maximum capacity for each unique life.

Tara values being joined globally to this unique group of practitioners from a wide variety of human development related fields in the Taos Institute.  She is a Board member of Tapestry of Hope, a performing member of the Jubilation handbell choir and the Bella Voce women’s chorus.  Tara’s life with her large family–as foster-mother, aunt, great-aunt, daughter and sister—fuels her life with abundant connection and joy.

Currently, in her role as Co-Director of Integral Flow, LLC, Tara joins Dr. Neal Sarahan as a facilitator of maximizing the strengths and capacity of the “whole.”  Their work is contributed through organizational consultation, private practice and community service.
