Adela G. García has been born and raised in Argentina. She has lived in
numerous places throughout her life including France and U.S.A.
Currently, she resides in the city of Buenos Aires. She is Licensed
Psychologist from Universidad del Salvador (Buenos Aires) and Master of
Arts from the University of Michigan; Founder and Chair of Centro de
Estudios Sistémicos (1988), a training institute in Family therapy,
currently offering the International Certificate in Collaborative
Practices sponsored by Houston Galveston Institute and the Taos
Institute.
She teaches Family Therapy at undergraduate and graduate level.
Professor of Family Therapy, Universidad del Salvador, Buenos Aires and
Profesor of Family Psychology, School of Law, Universidad de Buenos
Aires. She has been the Coordinator of the Relational and Network
Collaborative Program, Tromso University College, Tromso, Norway and
Universidad Nacional de Lanús, Buenos Aires.
She has served as Vice-President for the Systemic Association of Buenos
Aires, (1987-1989); Editor of Sistemas Familiares, (1989-97), the
Argentine Journal of Family Therapy; Member of the Editorial Board of
several Professional Journals in North and South America among them the
Journal of feminist Family Therapy and Family Process.
She presents her work in national and international conferences and
workshops and has published in national and international publications.
Her main areas of interest are related to promote Respect for Cultural
diversity and to participate in the Social Construction of Peace and
Human Rights. She considers her practice as therapist as a political
action.
