Deni is a proud second-generation black British Woman of West Indian origin. The history in this context is mind-blowing and humbles her. She is the youngest of five siblings – who unanimously describe her as “knowing her worth.” This family story of identity and individuality fits with her broader ideas and beliefs about not giving authorities or socially constructed worlds/systems the power to define who she is, what she is or how she wants to be in the world. She is passionate about creating change and taking a position as a change agent.

“I love my blackness. It is unconventional and gives me permission to take unique systemic, relational and social constructionist approaches to my life and to my work with and for others.”

In her work with organizations, couples, children and families and Individuals, Deni routinely takes a presenting dilemma and runs it through the lens of social construction as a way of demonstrating that similar experiences/difficulties are not given the same meanings across cultures and time but is specific to each culture. She finds this invites flexibility in thinking and can often free people and organizations up to consider differences in cultural experience as a resource.

She is committed to serving and developing the systemic community and working towards quality and high standards and do so using a social constructionist lens. She has served as a volunteered member of UKCP College of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (CFCSP) since 2017. She moved into the position of Vice Chair in 2022. She is a member of the Autism and Intersectionality Conference Steering Group. This group uses systemic and social constructionist ideas and principles to create change in how people think about, work with, and co-empower people with autism.
