I have an undergraduate degree in psychology from UCLA (1976), a masters’ degree in counseling (1986) and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Development Services with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy and a dissertation on paradigm shift (1990). I conducted my graduate level education part-time while I was raising my son and daughter, now 28 and 33.

I ran a huge public counseling center on the campus of Kent State University for nine years (1991-2000), where I also taught graduate level classes in advanced counseling and marriage and family therapy, did research, created programming, and conducted presentations at regional and national professional conferences (1990-2006). At present, I teach counseling courses there part-time (2012-2013).

I have taught communication skills in two medical schools (1984-2005), am trained as an expert in the family dynamics of family businesses, have a background in business and executive coaching, and am a certified collaborative divorce coach (2008).

I am a certified leader for both “ScreamFree Parenting” and “ScreamFree Marriage”, a parent and couples’ education approach I have been advocating for the last few years. I am the only certified “ScreamFree” Leader in the state of Ohio and can be found listed at www.screamfree.com.

I hold two current Ohio licenses, one as a Professional Clinical Counselor -Supervisory Level (PCC-S) and another as an Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT). I am actively involved in my primary professional organization, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. I can be found listed on their website, www.aamft.org, as well as on the nationally-acclaimed Ohio website for the Center for Principled Family Advocacy (www.famad.com). I am also a member of American Counseling Association (www.aca.org), American Psychological Association (www.apa.org), and the Taos Institute (www.taosinstitute.org) .
