Giovanna is currently a senior business faculty at the Higher Colleges in Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

She is a Professor of Marketing and Business, with a demonstrated history of excellence, in relational teaching and leading, working with cross-cultural teams and innovative curricula.

An avid teacher and learner, Giovanna is skilled at marketing teaching in a relational way through her dialogic and industry-linked teaching approach. Her avant-garde action research project, supervised by Professor Mary Gergen, highlights the significance of relational learning in higher education, particularly its key role in empowering women students in the research context. Giovanna’s dialogic teaching research work has won awards, the most recent being the best conference presentation, at a Prague business conference in November 2019.

Giovanna embraces lifelong learning; she has recently achieved an International Diploma in Social Construction in Higher Education and Pedagogical Practices from the Taos Institute in the US, a Higher Education Academy Fellowship, and a Chartered Institute of Marketing

Certification from the UK. Giovanna is also an ‘ACBSP Global Business Education’ active committee member since 2016 and a ‘Diversity, Equality and Inclusion’ (DEI) task force member.

Giovanna enjoys her multicultural and multilingual background. A graduate from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, Giovanna is trilingual, has lived in various countries, and has worked in industries and academia for years. She loves spending time traveling, particularly joining her son and daughter, currently studying in the US and Europe. Giovanna enjoys creative painting, artistic and healthy cooking, and long walks by the beach, and in the ‘wadis’ (valleys), these are renowned seasonal watercourses areas of the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Emirate, where she currently resides.

Giovanna hailed to HCT in RAK years back and has since contributed to the college and community, relationally teaching and empowering thousands of Emirati women who have embarked in their lives. These women graduates are now wives, moms, employees, managers, masters, and some, Ph.D. holders. These are more enabled women who have transferred their relational learning in the college into their respective lives’ diverse situations. Working with these women students over the years has given Giovanna a unique and iconic place among her many RAK graduates.

Giovanna‘s cutting-edge research interest is in relational learning in marketing, dialogic teaching, linking academia to industry, appreciative inquiry, digital marketing, branding, e-HRM, and women empowerment through transformative education.
