Yin-Hui Hong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dance at University of Taipei, Taiwan. She primarily teaches courses on Dance Therapy, Somatics for Dance Education, Embodiment Narrative therapy for both graduates and undergraduates. Dr. Hong received her Doctorate of Guidance and Counseling from National Chi Nan University Taiwan; MA in Dance Education from University of Taipei, Taipei, Taiwan.
In September 2015, YinHui left Taiwan to visit the University of New Hampshire for one year as a visiting scholar working with Professor Sheila McNamee in the Department of Communication.
YinHui was a professional dancer, a flight attendant, an occupational therapist, a dance therapist, a counselor, a supervisor and a lecturer. She had worked at psychiatric hospital for 14 years. She loves dance, art, travel and people, so she brings the dance, performing arts and narrative therapy into her work as an occupational therapist. In her work history YinHui not only worked with people who have various diagnoses but also has developed her professional practice within the psychiatry hospital practices in Taiwan.
YinHui resigned from her job at a hospital a few years ago, to work as a freelancer and now she is dedicated to community work. She is invited by non-profit organizations to arrange different workshops of post-modern narrative therapy, solution of focus, dance therapy for social workers, counselors, probation officer and school teachers.
She also works for court and drug addiction treatment center of Taiwan government.
She uses of the concepts of social construction and relational responsibility to integrate Somatics, dance and the arts to expand the possibility to explore and create people’s new experiences and open a new landscape for all people facing challenges in their life path.
