Mr. Butler is the founding CEO and President of The Institute for Sustainable Peace, which includes a consulting practice – C3Performance.org; a domestic initiative – Connected Communities; and, the ISP Transformational Leadership Development Program for international leaders in post-conflict societies.

From the Balkans to boardrooms in America, Randall Butlerhelps leaders bridge barriers and form deep connections between each other and their teams. In the business context, his approach (Connected Performance) enables leaders to manage conflict more effectively, enhance collaborative skills, and lead more integrated lives. The results are increased employee engagement, productivity and profits. In post-conflict societies, his transformational leadership development program has helped leaders to build bridges of understanding and deep connections enabling them to collaborate to meet challenges in their communities and build sustainable peace.

Mr. Butler spent the first 18 years of his career as a trial lawyer, first as an associate and then partner at Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP and later as a partner in Cook, Butler & Doyle LLP. On January 1, 1999, Mr. Butler shifted the focus of his practice to mediating complex disputes involving large numbers of stakeholders and to building the capacity of leaders and change agents to transform conflicts to build lasting solutions. He has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center and in the International Studies department of the University of St. Thomas, in Houston, where he taught a master’s level course in International Conflict Resolution.
