Jeff Jackson, MBA, is principal of the Vallarta Institute, a coaching and organizational consulting service with offices in Oakland, California and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He provides organizational and team effectiveness consulting to community organizations, foundations and businesses with expertise in: capacity building, evaluation, community partnerships, problem solving, decision-making, teambuilding, leadership coaching and performance improvement. He has worked with labor leaders, corporate executives, human rights activists, health care professionals, and farm-workers. Jeff is also one of three David and Lucile Packard Foundation Organizational Effectiveness Consultants responsible for grantmaking and grant evaluations. Jeff’s background includes operations leadership and/or consulting for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation, Global Fund for Children, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Christopher Reynolds Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, AFL-CIO, Daughters of Charity National Health System, Organization Development Network, Project Open Hand, Bay Area Health Ministries, Rotacare Free Clinics, University of Guanajuato, Pan American Development Foundation, Maryknoll, and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Prior to starting his consulting business in 2006 Jeff was community and government relations manager, operations manager, finance director and consulting department director at US non-profit healthcare giant Kaiser Permanente. Among other professional publications, Jeff is coauthor of the book “Cultures of Participation at Work in Cuba and the US” (2006; CIPS , Spanish; ODN , English) which is a compilation of successful practices in the US and Cuba (including Appreciative Inquiry, Ennegram and Interest-Based Decision Making) for engaging employees and the community in organizational change. Jeff lives and works most of the year at the Vallarta Institute Retreat Center and Guest House (see casadelasflorespv.com) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where, besides working, he enjoys volunteering with community groups, operating his Galeria HabanaVallarta art gallery and floating in the water.
