Jonathan D. Raskin is a professor of psychology and counseling at the State University of New York at New Paltz. His scholarship focuses on constructivist counseling and psychotherapy, as well as on articulating and clarifying constructivist theories and their central role in human meaning-making.

Dr. Raskin has published extensively on constructivist theory and practice. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Counseling Association, and Constructivist Psychology Network. He is also a fellow of APA’s Divisions 32 (Society for Humanistic Psychology) and 24 (Society for Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology). Dr. Raskin received the Carmi Harari Early Career Award from the Society for Humanistic Psychology (2007), George Kelly Award from the Constructivist Psychology Network (2010), and the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities from the State University of New York (2007).

He serves as managing editor of the Journal of Constructivist Psychology and consulting editor for The Humanistic Psychologist. He is also licensed as a psychologist in New York, where he maintains a small private practice. Dr. Raskin is pleased to have the opportunity to engage in dialogue about links between the constructivist and social constructionist perspectives, both of which place meaning-making at the forefront of understanding people.
