Lesley Lahaye works for a public school system in a rural area of northeast British Columbia. She has over thirty years experience as a special education teacher and district administrator. In her current role, she supervises curriculum and assessment, coordinates professional development for teachers and administrators, and facilitates a leadership academy.
Lesley is keenly interested in the future of learning. Her work is based on the philosophy and principles of social construction and involves supporting teams of teachers and administrators in continuous cycles of inquiry focused on student success. She believes in the potential for innovative practices, designed by practitioners in collaboration with their colleagues and stakeholders, to better engage students and prepare them for the needs of society in the 21st Century.
Lesley worked with colleague Larry Espe on a collaborative action research project and co-authored their dissertation entitled Co-creating Schools of the Future: Approaching Change in a Canadian Public School System Through Appreciative Inquiry. Her experience with appreciative inquiry has led Lesley to explore additional structures and strategies for providing space for productive workplace conversations. She is currently studying the connection between conversational leadership and organizational energy.
