Chiaki Iwasaki, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Educational Promotion and Deputy Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Kansai University. She specializes in educational technology and has served as a board member of the Japan Society for Educational Technology and the Japan Society for Media in Education. Her interest is the design of learning environments in university education. Her research focuses on the use and training of student staff, such as teaching assistants and learning assistants, as support for learners to learn autonomously. As a specialist in educational technology, she has recently conducted research on tutoring strategies for online tutoring and learning support using ChatGPT to deepen autonomous learning, as well as FD activities for faculty based on this research. She is also involved in research on online-based class design, and act as a class consultant for faculty members on class design. Chiaki is also conducting quantitative and qualitative research on learning commons in Japan about learning environments that support learners’ autonomous learning. In this way, she is engaged in research related to the design of learning environments that deepen student learning for learners and educators, with a focus on higher education.
