Cristina Ruffino holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Education from the
State University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil), and a PhD in Psychology
from the University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil). For several years, she
worked with child education in the public school system as a teacher.
During this time she coordinated projects directed to the inclusion and
attention to human and speaking interactions.
Later she specialized in Family and Couple Therapy at the Familiae
Institute where she started to integrate the Ribeirão Preto’s teaching
staff, acting as teacher and supervisor in couple and family therapy
under the social constructionist approach.
She is a co-founder of ConversAções Institute of Mediation and
Dialog Facilitation with Marisa Japur. The purpose of the Institute is
to work with human communication and conflicts, either in private
contexts or in the development of social work, in a constructionist
perspective. The Institute also offers training in mediation of
conflicts. Currently, the Institute ConversAções includes Family
Therapists training among its activities, also in a constructionist
perspective.
She has always been in love with relations established in the
teaching-learning process, dedicating special attention to the mediator
and therapist formation process. A work that describes part of her
dedication is on the joint authorship with Marisa Japur chapter “The
mediator of conflicts formation in a social constructionist perspective”
in the book “Social Constructionist: discourse, practice and production
of knowledge”, organized by Guanaes-Lorenzi, Moscheta, Corradi-Webster
and Souza. Published by NOOS Institute. 2014.
Recently, she also co-authored the chapter “The Creation of the
Conversational Context of the Group” and “Conversations to Promote
Conversations” in the book “Social Constructionist Perspectives on Group
Work” organized by Emerson Rasera published by TAOS Institute. 2015.
