Education as Relating: A Virtual Conference

We had a wonderful virtual conference with over 300 people registered from 30 countries. The program featured 80 concurrent sessions, 4 plenary sessions, and 33 video presentations. Many of the live virtual sessions were recorded and are now available on the Taos Institute’s YouTube playlist. Thousands of people have now visited the conference video presentations and recordings.

We hope to continue the conversation on Education as Relating! Look for new ways to get involved, share your education practices and engage with others.

Education as Relating… The world is ready…the future is at hand… for replacing assembly-line classrooms with the vitalizing powers of relating. The directions are clear: from standardization to dialogue, from control to co-creation, and from regimentation to collaboration. Here lie the wellsprings of creativity, caring, and curiosity.  Here we prepare for a global future in which inclusion, innovation, and improvisation are essential for a world in harmony. Come join in this virtual conference designed for sharing and exploring practices, experiences, and inspirations in all aspects of education – within classrooms, communities, and outward to the circling globe. Come join in shaping the future of education.

This virtual conference was for educators, administrators, students, parents, school counselors, school leaders, change agents, and everyone who is interested in moving education, educational systems and educational practices towards relational, collaborative and appreciative ways of teaching/learning.

This short video features students and teachers from Højby Skole, Odense, Denmark. Witness their excitement as they speak about their Cultural Change Project, an initiative led by Gro Emmertsen Lund, Ph.D. Organizational Consultant, Education Specialist, Taos Associate and Faculty Advisor at NO!SE: Network of Independent Scholars in Education. Here is just one example of a school implementing social constructionist practices to become a relational school.
