Thorsten Padberg is a psychologist and philosopher from Germany. His interests include the study of the social ramifications of psychological discourse and psychotherapeutic practice. He was a member of the Bochumer Arbeitsgruppe für Sozialen Konstruktivismus und Wirklichkeitsprüfung at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, he studied with Kenneth Gergen at Swarthmore. He studied philosophy with special interest in philosophy of language, mind-body-dualism and theory of science.
He now works as a therapist and supervisor in Berlin. He teaches and writes.
He has published numerous articles on subjects as the science-practice gap in psychotherapy, the (non-)effectiveness of antidepressants, the rhetoric of objectivity in psychological research, and dangers of psychiatric diagnosis.
