Monica is a social constructionist counsellor, supervisor, and researcher from Mexico. She pursued studies (Bachelor, Masters, and Ph.D.) in Psychology, an MSW in Clinical Social Work Practice at the University of Calgary, and counts with several specializations as an individual, couple, and systemic family therapist. Monica’s work focuses on social construction-oriented practices in counseling training, education, and organizations.   

She is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Couple and Family Therapy Program at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary. Monica works as a clinician and supervisor at the Calgary Family Therapy Centre and the Eastside Community Mental Health Services. She is a Board Member of the Taos Institute and the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
